The challenge

JELD-WEN UK depends on a continuous supply of paper honeycomb core to keep its door panels moving through production. With previous suppliers quoting lead times of four to six weeks, the company had no choice but to hold a corresponding safety buffer, tying up warehouse space and working capital with little room to flex.

What changed

Axxor supplies paper honeycomb core with a consistent two-week lead time. That reliability changed the calculation: with shorter, predictable replenishment cycles, JELD-WEN was able to halve its safety stock.

The freed warehouse capacity became available for other uses. The working capital previously tied up in excess inventory could be deployed elsewhere.

Alongside improved supply performance, Axxor’s technical team reviewed JELD-WEN’s core specifications. A key finding: core sheets were being supplied wider than the actual door dimensions required. By aligning sheet width precisely to each door format, material consumption per door dropped significantly, less trim waste, better yield, and a more efficient overall production process.

Results at a glance
