About the job

The Site Engineer reports to the Operations Manager and has 1 Maintenance Lead direct report. This position is responsible for the hands-on technical leadership of the site, Capital Project Management, Maintenance Systems Management, and Process / Systems Optimization.

The person who is successful in this role will be innovative in identifying technical solutions to problems, competent in communicating technical details, skilled in leading teams, experienced with hands on process engineering, and possess a strong mechanical skill set.  This position is based in the Danville, VA area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Site Technical Leadership
    1. Be the go-to resource for questions about equipment or processes with the keen ability to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
    2. Develop technical skills of maintenance and operations teams.
    3. Accountability for the Maintenance Team
      1. Onboarding, staffing and performance appraisal process for the Maintenance Lead
    4. Benchmark with Axxor facilities in Europe to share Best Practices.
    5. Lead respective portion of Daily 48hr meetings and Weekly Ops Team Meeting
    6. Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical elements in Complaint Handling activities
    7. Manage, maintain and improve IT by acquiring/maintaining equipment, troubleshooting hardware, working with YouCT in NL
  • Process / Systems Optimization
      1. Develop and maintain Material Balances.
      2. Develop and sustain vibrant lean culture in plant.
      3. Leverage Capacity Analysis and Continuous Improvement (Lean, TPM, Kaizen) tools to optimize Asset Utilization and lead Problem Solving activities.
      4. Provide technical and business expertise on systems/products/technologies.
      5. Deliver high energy iterations through PDCA cycles.
      6. Maintain and improve upon business processes in collaboration with team members.
  • Maintenance Systems Accountability – thru the Maintenance Lead
    1. Identify and address safety risks related to facility and equipment.
    2. Ensure that the facility and all the equipment are maintained in good order & “up to date”.
    3. Plan, schedule, and assign Corrective/Preventative Maintenance activities.
    4. Manage Spare Parts Program.
    5. Lead Defect Handling & Breakdown Elimination processes.
    6. Manage external relationships with equipment vendors.
  • Capital Project Management
    1. Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity.
    2. Support technical requirements for new product/application needs (e.g., low heights).
    3. Handle execution of Capital projects, including:
      1. Scope Development
      2. System Design
  • Cost Estimation and Budget Management
  1. Budget / Schedule Management
  2. Procurement
  3. Installation / Commissioning / Start-Up

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 5+ years technical experience in project management, systems / process engineering, or technical discipline in a manufacturing environment with maintenance experience and controls experience
